How does one become part of the Heritage Educational Program?

·         Decide if you are interested in becoming a Heritage Teacher or a Heritage Artist.  Both have different tracks of study and require different commitments from the students.

·         In order to enter the Heritage Educational Program you must first become a Heritage Friend.  The Heritage Friend level is your introduction to the program.  When possible we will provide one day seminars world wide.  For those that can’t attend the seminars there will be an easy, online option.  The online and live seminars will be offered free of charge but the will be a small charge for materials.

·         Once you have become a Heritage Friend contact the education coordinator, Georgia Dawbon, (georgia@dawbonartstudio.com) and explain to her your circumstance.  Georgia is wonderful and will help tailor make a program that best fits your needs.

·         Keep in mind that this program is designed to give you a wonderful artistic experience and does not have strict rules, tests or requirements.  All that you need to do is register for the program, paint, learn and have fun.

What can you expect from a typical Heritage lesson.

·         Each lesson will include core lesson, a focus lesson and at least one alternate lessons.  All of these separate lessons will focus on the same concepts allowing the teacher and the student many opportunities to learn and reinforce painting techniques.

·         When applicable each lesson will include information on the history and symbolism contained in the lesson.  In addition, each lesson will include a “Brush Basics” section that reinforces good brush work and a “Color Corner” that teaches small lessons on color theory.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I am a certified Traditions Teacher, will I receive the Heritage Education Program and if so, how?

Ø     If you are a certified Traditions Teacher and received your training before June 2009 you have the opportunity to receive the new Heritage Education Program.  To receive the program you must fill out a simple form found on the Jansen Art Education website at:

http://jansenarteducation.com/Teacherform.php

If I have already submitted my information to become a member of the Teacher Forum do I have to fill out the form again?

Ø     Yes.  This form is a necessary tool for us to properly collect up to date contact information from you.

How will I receive the Heritage Education Program?

Ø     Teachers who request the program through the online form will be able to immediately download (after program launch, Oct. 1, 2009) the new Manual from www.jansenarteducation.com and the manual will be mailed to you on CD.  The address provided on the form will generate your mailing label.

If I am not certified Traditions Teacher, but I would like to teach the new Heritage Education Manual what do I have to do?

Ø     If you would like to become a Heritage Teacher and teach the manual to your own students you must complete a Teacher Training Seminar.  You have two options to complete this seminar.  You can attend a 5 day Training Seminar presented by a member of the Heritage Design Team or you can complete the Training online.  Online training will be made available by Paul and Cathy Seymour and is scheduled to commence March 15, 2010.  Live Teacher Training Seminars are being scheduled and could begin as early as the Fall of 2009.  If you are interested hosting or attending a live seminar please contact the Education Coordinator, Georgia Dawbon at Georgia@dawbonartstudio.com  As dates are scheduled they will be published at www.jansenarteducation.com and on the Education Forum.

If I am a student and I have been studying the Traditions Education Manual from a Traditions Teacher, will I receive the manual free of charge?

Ø     No.  If you are a student, you have 3 options:

a)      You can ask your Traditions Teacher to implement the Heritage Education Program in your live classes.

b)      You can study the Heritage Education Program online with Paul and Cathy Seymour.   Paul and Cathy will talk to you personally about this choice and depending on how far along you are in the modules they will help guide you into the appropriate starting point in the Heritage Education Program.  This will be done on an individual basis and will be left to the discretion of Paul and Cathy.

c)      You can become a Heritage Teacher yourself by receiving the Teacher Training through a live seminar or online with Paul and Cathy Seymour.

What if I have already studied all of the Traditions Education as a student and I have completed all of modules ABC and I want to continue studying?

Ø     If you have completed all three modules as a student and wish to continue studying, firstly, congratulations!  You have completed a wonderful education and we on the Heritage Team know how incredibly hard you have worked.  You will have 3 options:

a)      Ask your Traditions Teacher to implement the Heritage Education Program in your live classroom.  Your teacher will have access to the Teacher Forum found at www.jansenarteducation.com and we will have many creative suggestions for them to implement the program and help to cater to your needs.

b)      You can contact Paul and Cathy Seymour and take the classes online.  For students who have studied and completed modules ABC they will offer the lessons from the Heritage Education Program individually so that you can study the lessons you feel will serve you best.  This option will only be available to students who have completed modules ABC and will also be at the discretion of Paul and Cathy Seymour.

c)      You can choose to become a Heritage Teacher and receive Teacher Training in a live seminar presented by a Heritage Design Team member or you can receive the Teacher Training online from Paul and Cathy Seymour.

I am new to painting and I would like to study the Heritage Education Program.  How do I do that?

Ø     Hopefully, there will be a local Heritage Teacher that you can contact so that you can take live classes.  Nothing can compete with a live teacher that can watch you paint and critique and help you with technique, mechanics and theory as you paint in an immediate manner.  If you are looking for a teacher in your area please contact the Heritage Education Coordinator, Georgia Dawbon, at Georgia@dawbonartstudio.com and she can help you find a local teacher.

Ø  You may prefer to take the classes online from Paul and Cathy Seymour.  They will begin teaching Module 1 on Oct. 1 2009.
